Future Value Calculator
Ever wondered how much your home will be worth in the future?
The future value calculator enables us to take an amount today and predict
what the amount will grow to based on the number of years and a given interest rate.
I wrote this calculator as I also find it is very useful in determining a rough estimate
of real estate. Instead of looking forward we take ourselves back in time to when the property
was last sold, enter the number of years to take us up to today, use the value of 5% which is
roughly the value city prices have risen between 2004 and 2014, and if the value roughly
matches than we know we're in the ballpark. If the price is being quoted is far under this
amount then it really is a matter of buyer beware. If it is much higher then there needs
to be a good reason.
Amount - Enter the amount in today's terms when you want to predict what will happen in the future,
or enter an amount in the past to see what that amount would be today. Enter whole dollars.
Years - Enter the number of years to when you'll receive the money.
Interest Rate - You'll need to decide on what you feel is a reasonable interest rate. A good figure
for the interest rate is 4-5 per cent. For real estate the average from 2004 to 2014 has been 5%. For country
areas and where's there's less competition, perhaps use 4 per cent.
I hope you find the calculator useful and informative.
